All the metro trains in this new route will use HESOP (Harmonic Energy Saver Optimizer). This system saves energy during braking and uses that energy to power several loads in the Dubai metro facilities like the ventilation and lighting system. This system aims to save over 6.6 million kilowatts of energy per year. This will also reduce operation costs by 3 million dirhams each year.
Current testing of the route 2020
Currently, ongoing testing is being performed on the new route. These tests will include testing of all aspects of the new route and the new metro trains. Furthermore, this includes testing of communication systems, automated operational systems, electrical systems, air-conditioning, onboard electronic devices, lighting systems, braking systems, and the motor. The route will be open to the public in September 2020.
What is The Dubai Metro?
The Dubai Metro is a chain on the rail network in the city of Dubai. Currently, there are 2 Dubai metro lines. All trains are driverless and fully automated. In addition, each metro train is equipped with a WiFi connection for the passengers to use. In 2018, statistics show that the Dubai Metro had over 204 million passengers.
The Dubai Metro is one of the reliable ways people use to get around the city. Although the metro has a limited amount of stations, thousands of passengers use it each day to get to their destinations. Most stations have bus stations right next to them as well as taxi spots. This ensures that passengers can arrive at their destinations.
Dubai Metro Tickets and Costs
The Dubai Metro tickets cost between 2 to 6.5 AED per trip. This depends on the number of zones you wish to move across and the price increases the more zones you move across. Passengers can get a disposable card which is valid for 90 days and can hold up to 10 trips.
This card is usually used by those who aren’t frequent passengers on the Dubai metro. Frequent passengers on the Dubai metro often buy a Nol card. These cards last for 5 years and can be rechargeable at any metro station. Holders of the card can also use it for other services such as taxi, bus, tram, parking, and even water buses.
“With the new Dubai Metro Line, passengers can move across 7 new stations in a fast, secure, and safe way. The Dubai Metro is an essential part of the city and thousands of passengers use it to get to their destinations. When the route opens to the public, you can get the Dubai Metro tickets for the route at any metro station in Dubai with the Nol card.”
